Overview

The course is aimed at those people who will have a slideshow prepared for them or who will deliver a pre-prepared presentation. It covers designing, rehearsing and running a PowerPoint show and the skills required to deliver an effective presentation.

OR Designing and presenting with PowerPoint - half day

OR Presentation Skills - half day

OR Content and duration can be tailored to suit individual requirements from one or two hours to a day.

Morning:

• Guidelines on designing a show
• Using message related templates
• Creating an outline in Word
• Timing the presentation
• Running the show with mouse or keyboard
• Pausing, branching and moving around slides
• Running media clips
• Annotating slides
• Adding speaker notes

Afternoon:

• Why we need ‘performance’ in our presentations
• Underlying principles behind the use of visuals
• What are communication skills
• Image, perceptions and tensions – how they affect our message, credibility and voice
• Creating a strong, powerful presence and commanding an audience
• Vocal delivery – how to improve it 100% and speak with maximum effect and impact
• Exploring eye contact. Casting the net
• Timing when to speak
• Gestures and Dress. Irritating and distracting factors and how to overcome
• Stage managing yourself together with PowerPoint
