POWERPOINT AND PRESENTATION SKILLS
Overview
The course is aimed at users who are new to both the software and presenting.
The first day covers an introduction to PowerPoint to create and run a presentation,
including the preparation of notes and handouts. The second day covers the
skills required to deliver an effective presentation. However, the content
can be tailored according to existing software knowledge and presentation
experience.

Day One:
Suitable for new users of PowerPoint, covering the creation, amendment
and printing of a presentation, setting up and running a slide show and
integrating data with other MS Office programs.

- Using the Menu Bar, Toolbar and Tool Palette
- Drawing and Editing Objects and Text
- Changing Font, Size and Colour of Text
- Text Alignment and Layout
- Slide Setup
- Working with Master Pages
- Adding, Viewing and Changing Slides
- Inserting ClipArt
- Printing - Presentations, Notes and Handouts
- Text Options - Find, Change, Spell etc.
- Using Templates and Setting Defaults
- Saving Presentations
- Creating and Running a Slide Show
- Graphics using Datasheet
- Exchanging and Linking data with Word and Excel
- Using Help and Wizards
Day Two:
An interactive workshop to build confidence and provide the skills required
to deliver an effective presentation. The training is challenging, dynamic
and fun. Informal presentations to be given throughout the day.

- Image and perceptions – how they affect our message, credibility
and voice
- How tensions affect message, credibility and voice
- Creating a strong and powerful presence
- Commanding an audience
- Breathe – its source, its power, its benefits. Importance of
abdominal strength
- Exploring eye contact. Casting the net
- Timing when to speak
- Gestures and Dress. Irritating and distracting factors and how to overcome
them
- Vocal delivery – how to improve it 100% and speak with maximum
effect and impact
- Who commands our attention and why
- Speaking with distractions
- Stage managing yourself and your set
- Underlying principles behind the use of PowerPoint
- Stage managing yourself together with PowerPoint
- Final presentations – 5 minute duration each participant to include
the use of PowerPoint
Objective
By the end of the course attendees should be able to create an effective
PowerPoint slideshow, be aware of the skills required to present with confidence
and know how to get their message across and connect with the audience.
